the great minnesota get-together

it's a sunday afternoon. there's nothing going on.
what to do, what to do.
my dad and TJ were going to the state fair, so i joined in.

what i saw:
1. thousands of minnesotans.
2. multitudes of deep fried ____ (this is where you fill in the blank with any unhealthy food you can think of: cheese, candy bars, twinkies, etc.).
3. a woman with a teddy bear tattoo on her neck.
4. a band of three or four middle-aged men doing a cover of "jesus is just alright" by dctalk.
5. piles of KKS
6. baby animals.
7. the finest huckleberry jam in the midwest (locked in a storecase, of course).
8. horse manure in the main avenue.

what i didn't see that i would've liked to:
1. barack obama.
- if he wants my vote, he's gonna have to work for it.
2. a tattoo parlor.
- to commemorate my glorious experience.
3. parents that weren't yelling at their kids?
- that might be too much to ask.
4. a building honoring camp counselors.
- the elite.
5. a shrine to bethel university.
- we're as close as you're gonna get to God if you go anywhere else...

all in all, i had a phenomenal time. wait, did i say phenomenal? i meant awful.

but i clearly don't decide what's cool because the only thing i have to do on a sunday night is write a blog about the state fair.

"i don't know what it is, so i'm NOT going to look."

what a day. my first day at beth-el (house of God). sophomore year. yep.

i don't know if i did anything. i ate a pop tart.

unpacked.
got some groceries.
bought my books. $177. (one of them is called "gentile girl")
ooh, had chipotle for lunch.
took a nap.
watched wedding crashers (YES.)
did some rearranging.
played guitar.

and the best part: my sister got her bank account hacked. ok obviously that's not funny. but you know what is funny? they used it for an escort service! and the first charge was $60. i'm sorry, but seriously, if i stole someone's credit card and was going to use it at an escort service, i'd be a little more "luxurious". and there was another one for $10 for a "chatting" website. poor laura. but i love that it happened to her.

ok, i'm going to go...umm..be productive? naw. bedtime. ridic.

thoughts from a nomad.

well my last post was about 2 months ago.
i have some catching up to do.

let's start where we left off: camp.

i cannot believe it's over. to think of all the craziness that happened this summer. i loved every second of it. i could probably make a top 100 list of my favorite things that happened. and i probably will some night when i don't want to study for "history of ancient israel."

i met so many quality people it's ridiculous. up-side? i learned a ton about myself and i got to be totally real. down-side? it's made me question all the other friendships that i have. not that they are bad, but i will definitely post them up to a higher standard.

what will i miss the most? having someone to tell everything, and the fact that they are less than 100 feet away. talking to campers about issues they have that i've struggled with myself. being ridiculous, 24/7. laughing so hard i can't breathe. so much more.

but it's ok, time to move on.

sophomore year. wow.

my room is gonna be ridiculous. my roommate is class president. yeah, MY roommate. how did that happen? she's the shiz though. my other roommates are pretty great too. tiff is bringing a strobe light. yeah. i can't imagine i'm ever gonna get anything done.

AND. brenda, stacey, and abbey are all super nearby. that's a definite comfort. and i'm sure flynn will make the occasional trip, even if it is only for a hanson concert. =)

i might go to orange city this weekend. with max. ha, yep. i'll keep you updated on that ;).

stay classy san diego. thanks for stopping by. stay class san diego. thanks for stopping by.
